Renaldo Nehemiah – World record visit to CONICA
6. Settembre 2018
The CONICA sports management team was delighted to be able to host a recent visit by one of the fastest men in Athletics history, Renaldo Nehemiah, to our headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
The American athletic legend, and former world record holder, was in Switzerland to attend the 90th edition of the World Class Zurich Meeting and the 2018 Diamond League Final 2018, held at Zurich’s famous Letzigrund Stadium.
For Renaldo Nehemiah, the Letzigrund Stadium and its red running track is not just any stadium. It is the Stadium where in 1981 he broke the magical 13 second mark over 110 m hurdles, by running 12.93 sec, and setting a new world record. This world record remained for 8 years until it was beaten by his compatriot Roger Kingdom, also in Zurich’s Letzigrund Stadium. Whilst his record has been surpassed, Renaldo Nehemiah will forever remain the man who first ran the 110m hurdles in under 13 seconds.
The now 59-year-old legend likes to remember his fantastic victory in Zurich and was happy to be there again, 37 years later, as a spectator.
CONICA would like to thank Renaldo Nehemiah for his visit to Schaffhausen. It is always an honor to be able to welcome world class athletes to our facility.
