From the showers to the VIP lounge – stadium equipment beyond the playing field
27. enero 2021
A sports stadium does not just consist of a playing field. It also includes changing rooms, fitness rooms, meeting rooms, etc. Depending on the league and ambitions of the club, VIP boxes and prestigious rooms for receptions also come as standard. The flooring must be adapted for this purpose, regardless of whether the users are barefoot, wearing studded shoes or high heels.
Sports stadiums worldwide use high quality flooring from CONICA. Most are used on playing fields, however, in the Schaffhausen stadium, CONICA has installed surfacing that you might associate more with commerce, industry and public institutions. This is only surprising at first glance, because there are in fact numerous uses for the coverings, in corridors, boxes or wet areas.
For CONICA, this order was an open goal, so to say. Just 200 metres separate the company headquarters and the installation site. The football stadium, suitable for the super league, has around 8,200 seats and is home to FC Schaffhausen. The stadium also offers a number of different boxes, conference rooms and meeting rooms for up to 700 people across 1000 sqm. Repoxit AG installed the high-performance CONIFLOOR LPC, CONIFLOOR LPC+ and CONIFLOOR IES SR surfacing in all the rooms within the stadium, in the VIP boxes, changing rooms and fitness rooms, corridors, storage rooms and in the entrance area.
Decorative and functional: CONIFLOOR LPC / LPC+ / IES SR
It’s not just the surfacing on the playing field that is exposed to high levels of stress, the surfacing on the periphery is too. That’s where players in their studs are on their way back to the changing rooms, high heels at receptions or seating that is constantly being moved around in the conference rooms. This all takes its toll on the flooring installed, but it still needs to look faultless. This is what CONIFLOOR LPC was developed for. The coloured, crack-bridging and elastic polyurethane self-smoothing coating with colourfast sealant is warm underfoot, slip-resistant and absorbs footfalls and walking sounds. It is therefore often used when a homely or prestigious atmosphere is required, such as in education and health care. If noise protection is also particularly important, CONIFLOOR LPC+ is the right choice. To reduce the sound of footfall and walking, this point-elastic coating system has an elastic layer composed of an impact-elastic foam mat. Making it ideal for rooms with a very open design. The coverings are low-emission in accordance with the AgBB (Health Assessment Committee for Building Products) and thus MVV TB [Rules on Technical Building Regulations] (2019), Finnish M1 and international LEED V4 requirements for DIBt approval (German Institute for Structural Engineering). They are therefore also suitable for sensitive areas.
If mechanical stress is particularly high, such as in technical or storage rooms, the CONIFLOOR IES SR (Industry Epoxy System slip resistant) broadcast coating is the perfect choice. The slip-resistant sealant guarantees safety. It is also extremely resistant to impact and abrasion, so that the floor also maintains its look and functionality even after long periods of mechanical stress. The broad colour spectrum also meets demanding aesthetic requirements.
Suitable surfacing for every application
Any normal visitor to the stadium rarely gives a thought as to what lies hidden behind the stand. You might think of changing rooms, but rarely of the media rooms, technical storage, catering, corridors, etc. – an incredible variety of uses and associated requirements. The fact that all these areas were fitted with CONICA coverings speaks for the wide range of products. An important criteria in all applications is the low emissions. In the rooms for the athletes, coverings must also be easy on the joints and warm to the feet. Wet areas, in particular, need to be easy to clean, impermeable and slip-resistant. Incidentally, entrances for spectators and guests must also have these features if water and dirt is brought in from outside in bad weather. This project “on our doorstep” impressively shows the performance and versatility of the CONICA product range.
