The Stade Olympique de la Pontaise in Lausanne hosted the penultimate Diamond League meeting on August 26 before the grand final in Zurich on September 7th and 8th . After his Olympic victory in Tokyo 2021 (1500m) and his European Championship titles over 1500m and 5000m in Munich, the Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen also left the competition behind him in Lausanne yet not only Ingebrigtsen showed excellent performances!
Jakob Ingebrigtsen set the tone over the 1500m distance in Lausanne. He ran to an unchallenged victory in 3:29.15 minutes, setting a new world best for the year. Michal Rozmys from Poland also achieved a personal top result over the 1500m with 3:32.43 minutes, establishing his best performance.
Non-stop event records and best times!
Another meeting record was achieved by Francine Niyonsaba (BDI) with 8:26.80 minutes in the 3000m race. In the same race, Alicia Monson (USA) set a personal best of 8:26.81 minutes. Four more of the total 15 runners achieved their personal best in this event.

A happy end for Switzerland
The Swiss 4 x 100m sprinters ended well. While they were eliminated in the preliminary round at the European Championships in Munich, they managed to win the final competition, which is not a Diamond League discipline, ahead of the Dutch and the Spanish. A nice finish in front of a home crowd. Lausanne’s sports director Jacky Delapierre,
organizer of the Athletissima for the last 40 years was also thrilled to see all this happen in Lausanne.
Stade Olympique de la Pontaise – top sporting performances thanks to CONIPUR M
The stadium is equipped with our World Athletics certified CONIPUR M. The surface is designed for competitive sports and competitions and has met the highest demands of athletes for many years, because it guarantees a perfect grip in all weather conditions and at the same time catapults the kicking foot forward.
The original track dates back from 2004,two years later the Chinese Olympic champion Liu Xiang sprinted across the finish line on it over 110m hurdles in the world record time of 12.88 seconds! In 2014, the surface was renewed by a “retoping “process. Today it is still in top condition. The 14 mm thick polyurethane running track system built with exclusively ‘Virgin Materials’ is still considered top quality even after many years. Hundreds of thousands of square meters of CONIPUR M raceways have now been installed worldwide. A total of 13 runways are certified as Class 1 and 14 as Class 2 and comply with the EN 14877, DIN V 18035-6 and ASTM F2157-02 standards.
