Athletissima 2024: CONICA’s Legacy, Record-Breaking Performances, and Unforgettable Moments
28. August 2024
The 49th edition of Athletissima in Lausanne brought with it a dazzling display of athletic prowess, record-breaking performances, and unforgettable moments for both athletes and spectators. Nearly 14,000 fans packed the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise to witness elite athletes from around the world take to the CONICA track, installed in 2004 and renovated in 2014 with CONIPUR RETOP technology. This iconic track has long been a cornerstone of Athletissima and a favorite of legends like Usain Bolt. “Lausanne is very special, the track has the best curve” – Bolt – IAAF World Athletics Tour.
Despite being installed two decades ago, the CONICA track at Stade Olympique de la Pontaise remains a gold standard in track performance. After its initial installation in 2004 using the CONIPUR M system and a rejuvenation with CONIPUR RETOP in 2014, the track continues to perform at the highest level, rivaling even the newest surfaces in the world. Athletes repeatedly praise the track for its consistent grip, superior energy return, and excellent shock absorption, which are crucial for maintaining speed and reducing injury risk. The fact that this track has supported countless world-class performances—including records and personal bests—over 20 years is a testament to CONICA’s enduring quality and innovative technology. The track’s durability, despite heavy use in both national and international competitions, proves that CONICA’s commitment to sustainability and performance has truly paid off. Today, the track remains a favorite among elite athletes, not only for its legacy but for the superior performance it continues to offer year after year.
Even after two decades, the CONICA track continues to be the foundation for world-class performances, and this year’s Athletissima brought thrilling feats that will be etched in the event’s history.
