Rubber wetpour requires very little maintenance but that does not mean doing absolutely nothing
30. June 2022
One of the great advantages of wetpour rubber flooring is its reduced maintenance requirements especially, when compared to other types of floorings such as loose elements or tiles. Unfortunately after witnessing the appearance of certain areas when we visit them, it seems that some owners or operators take that idea a bit too far.
At the very least, to maintain a good appearance, the surface must be kept clean of visible foreign objects, such as leaves, debris, waste, etc.
The accumulation of organic debris over a long period of time results in stains, discoloration, algae, moss, or fungus buildop, moreover making the area slippery.
In dark, humid, and low-traffic areas, the risk of moss or algae formation is greater. If we allow such germination to happen, cleaning becomes much more complicated, especially when it has started to spread.
The accumulation of dust or sand also clogs the pores that ensure water permeability and impairs the drainage capacity of the surface. From that moment on, the rain can cause puddles that make it difficult to use the area after the rain and damage the materials therefore reducing the life cycle of the flooring.
It is enough to sweep the surface every day, every week, or every month, depending on the level of use and the conditions of the place to avoid a much more complexl cleaning.
Some operators rely only on a thorough once a year cleaning, but doing this, causes irreversible yet avoidable damages. If this damage is too obvious you can use one of CONICA topcoats that can be pigmented to an end colour in order to give it new life. Of course we are more than happy with you buying our products, this will be more expensive than sticking to a more regular cleaning plan.
To sum this post up, please follow the guidelines of your material’s suppliers regarding cleaning and preventive maintenance and above all, do not experiment with untested products!
Happy cleaning!
